>Brokeback Mountain

>Sunday I rented Brokeback Mountain and started watching it while Mike was doing something else. I figured I needed to judge for myself what everyone else was raving about. As soon as Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal appeared on the screen, Nathan ran over to the TV and pointed right at Jake and shouted “Dad!!!” Mike happened to be walking in at that moment and replied “THAT’s not DAD!! That’s a gay cowboy!!!” I busted up laughing.

I did not like this movie. It was extremely slow. It was not all that romantic. I knew there was gonna be a kissing scene but nobody told me there was a gay sex scene. I find it a bit inconceivable that there is no prelude to the sex, they don’t even seem to know they are gay or attracted to one another, they just all of the sudden start…well…you know.

The scenery and music are gorgeous, but the rest of it falls flat in my opinion. The plot just isn’t thick enough. In short, it’s a snoozer.

  1. >I agree. One minute, cowboys, next gay cowboy love. The scenery was nice though.

  2. >sorry…no gay cowboys for me…i refuse to watch a movie like this…i don’t care how many awards it’s nomiated for!- Jon- Daddy Detective- http://www.daddydetective.com

  3. >I agree, it was a beautiful and well-made film, but I just didn’t see the whole “love story” everyone was raving about. It didn’t seem to me like they were in love at all – they just happened to meet up for gay sex every once in a while. And the one time Ennis couldn’t make it for their visit, Jack just headed down to Mexico and found some guy there. That alone should prove that it was more about sex than love.

  4. >Oh see, I really liked it. It did not move me emotionally the way everyone swore it would but I thought it was a well done movie.

  5. >SOOO not interested in gay boys. Or girls. Give me a good straight sex scene though and I’m there for ya. :)Anyway, you have a very interesting description of yourself. What kind of engineer?? My hub’s a mechanical so I’m curious. 🙂

  8. >I haven’t had a chance to check it out yet, but I am about sick of the theme song from it that they played over and over and over for the commercials. 🙂
